In a major step toward digital sovereignty and cloud-enabled BIM collaboration, Autodesk has expanded its Regional Cloud Data Offerings to five new key regions: the UK, Germany, India, Japan, and Canada.

This expansion gives AEC professionals and companies greater control over where their project data is stored, which is increasingly vital for compliance, trust, and performance.

🚀 What’s New?

You can now choose these countries as your primary data storage location for several Autodesk cloud services, including:

  • Autodesk Docs
  • Autodesk BIM Collaborate
  • Autodesk BIM Collaborate Pro
  • Revit Cloud Worksharing (Revit 2021+ required)
  • Collaboration for Civil 3D (Civil 3D 2020+ required)

These new regions are added alongside existing data center options in the United States, European Union, and Australia.

🔐 Why It Matters

According to Autodesk’s 2025 State of Design & Make Report, companies embracing digital transformation are experiencing up to 50% gains in productivity, innovation, and client satisfaction. But as more firms move to the cloud, the need for regional data residency becomes critical — for legal, operational, and strategic reasons.

This expansion addresses that need head-on by helping firms meet local compliance standards and build greater trust with clients and governments.

“Data is foundational to everything we do. The Autodesk Regional Offering in the UK ensures our project data remains within UK jurisdiction — critical for compliance and client trust.”
Scott Laird, AI & Technical Director at Reds10

💡 Supported by AWS

This global expansion is powered by Amazon Web Services (AWS), ensuring that Autodesk customers benefit from industry-grade infrastructure — including security, performance, and scalability — in every supported region.

“Autodesk’s regional data offerings help customers store data closer to where they operate — providing flexibility, control, and compliance.”
Colin Lazier, VP of Databases, AWS

🔍 What Does This Mean for You?

  • 🔐 Stronger compliance with local data laws and standards
  • 📊 Faster performance and improved data access for local teams
  • 🛠️ Better client trust in government and public sector projects
  • 🌐 Global collaboration without compromising on data sovereignty

🏗️ Building the Future with Confidence

Autodesk’s expanded regional offerings are part of its broader Design and Make Platform — an initiative committed to supporting digital transformation in the AEC industry with robust standards in data security, privacy, resiliency, and recoverability.

By giving BIM professionals and organizations more options and control over their cloud data, Autodesk is enabling a more secure and efficient future for the AECO industry.

📣 Final Thoughts

Whether you’re managing sensitive infrastructure projects, public sector contracts, or international teams — data residency matters. This update is not just technical; it’s strategic.

At BIM and Beam, we believe that the future of BIM is both connected and compliant. And with this move, Autodesk is clearly listening to what the industry needs.
